Account deletion
Delete the account, not just the app.
Uninstalling Onyx removes the app from a device but does not delete an account on an Onyx server. Use either route below to request permanent deletion.
Delete inside the Android app
- Open Onyx and select the Profile tab.
- Select "delete my account".
- Read the deletion summary and enter the account password to confirm.
- After the server confirms deletion, the app signs out and removes the local session.
Request deletion without the app
Send the request to the operator of the server where you created the account. State "Delete my Onyx account", the account email address, and the server address. Never send your password, sign-in token or stream ticket.
If you used the project reference service selected by a fresh Android install, use the publisher contact method onAbout this site. If you selected another server, use the operator identity and electronic contact in the Privacy Policy shown by that server before sign-up.
The operator may ask you to verify control of the account email or sign in once before deletion. They must not ask you to send a password.
What is deleted
- The server account, display name, email address and account metadata.
- Playback positions, watched marks and favorites tied to the account.
- The active session on the device after in-app deletion.
A random account identifier with no name or email may remain for up to seven days only to reject old sign-in tokens, then it is removed. An invite-only server operator must remove the email from their separate allow list. A media library belongs to the server operator and is not deleted with a viewer account.
Timing and other choices
A verified request is normally completed without undue delay and answered within one month where GDPR applies. Before deleting the account, you may export its data from the Profile tab. You may also clear watch history without deleting the account.
